Day 6 Unit 2

Unit 2. Escape Game

Today, you’ll create an escape game, where the player’s character must avoid bouncing sprites.

We will start with watching the video together.

Today there is no starter project to start from. Instead we will start from a blank slate. Open Scratch and choose and backdrop and two characters for your sprites.

First, let’s program one sprite to move randomly around the scene. This sprite is what you need to avoid touching.

https://csfirst.withgoogle.com/c/cs-first/en/game-design/escape-game/the-chase-is-on.html

  1. Move the chaser sprite.
  2. Make the chaser sprite move forever.
  3. Get the chaser sprite to bounce if it is on an edge.
  4. Point the chaser sprite in a random direction when it starts.
  5. Make the chaser sprite start moving when the green flag is clicked.

Then we will program the main player sprite that the user will control using the mouse.

https://csfirst.withgoogle.com/c/cs-first/en/game-design/escape-game/programming-the-player-sprite.html

  1. Make the player sprite point towards the mouse pointer, then move forward.
  2. Make the player sprite keep following the mouse pointer forever.
  3. BUG FIX: Only make the sprite move towards the mouse pointer if it is not touching the mouse pointer.
  4. Make the player sprite move when the green flag is clicked.
